Once a friend told me that whichever Pavement album you hear first will become your favorite. I'm partial to S&E since it meant so much to me at the time and ended up defining my whole year. I didn't explore their discog for the longest time, as I feared I would be disappointed in their other works, which would be different from the Pavement I loved. This is, apparently, not uncommon with Pavement fans. I did end up listening their discog and do agree that CRCR is in fact superior to S&E, but I can't bring myself to admit it. (I think this is all subconscious)

Yeah. I actually think this applies to most bands, or at least bands with consistently good discogs. I thin Brighten the Corners was the first full Pavement album I heard, but it's clearly not on the same level as the first 2.
