- Post subject: Rating Albums
|
I think it would be much better if we could make our ratings of albums more precise by entering in 1/2 stars instead of just 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5.
We should be able to enter 1/2, 1, 1 1/2, 2, 2 1/2, 3, 3 1/2, 4, 4 1/2 and 5.
I suggest this because the difference between and 3 & 4, or 4 & 5 star album is quite large. Personally, I rate on scales of 1 to 10, making the difference of 3 & 4 the same as a 6 & an 8.
When I see an album like Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys, I want to rate it a 7 out of 10 (or 3.5/5), but I am forced to go too low (3/5), or too high (4/5)--neither seem right.
Can this be made more precise?
The more precise the better: going up to 10, with half-points (6.5, 7, 7.5 and so forth) or especially 1/4th points (6, 6.25, 6.5, 6.75, 7, 7.25, 7.5, etc.) would be even better.
This would help myself and everyone else more accurately assign ratings, and would thus make the ratings more meaningful and realistic.
