I'm surprised it wasn't titled
"It's not fair! and I miss my mummy"

That may be more accurate, but have you considered whether it actually sounds like a good title or not?

Yourselfisntsteam wrote: | I like funeral, but am not a rabid fan of it. I think the reason for its acclaim is pretty easy to figure out though. Its as swedenman already started to point out, a bunch of well arranged pop songs with catchy melodies that manage to avoid obvious cliche. This is paired with some lyrics that create/give the illusion of powerful emotion because they attach to a very relatable youth centric angst as well as paint very broad and easily discernible thematic strokes ("theres something wrong, in the heart of man"). In a sense, anthemic melodies, fairly cool arrangements and lyrical themes which lots of people will attach too. Its actually a good recipe for acclaim. Personally I find this prevents the album from reaching say top 100 quality, as I actually get hints of insincerity and emotional cheapness if I listen to the album in a bad mood. |
I think it reaches top 100 quality alright. You're right mostly about the album, though.

I'm gonna go ahead and cherry pick my favourite quotes on this thread:

I think for the gen-y, post 9/11 generation it's that special landmark release, one that almost never comes around anymore, so yes we tend to rate it high. It was my favorite album when I first heard it and still is today.
