- Post subject: RAM no longer listed by Paul McCartney?!
|
I noticed that although RAM is an album credited to Paul & Linda McCartney, it is no longer listed in Paul McCartney's album listing, where his Wings albums are. Because of this, Paul's ranking on the all-time top artists has plummeted.
Is it possible to make Paul & Linda McCartney a child act of Paul McCartney, so that Ram can be included in his artist tally?

Artists are currently only parent/child artists on BEA where the performers are the same. If an artist is part of a duo, trio, etc then there is no single parent and they are counted/listed as a separate entity. I think BEA probably needs to start awarding credit to all the individual performers in duo/trio acts (and especially where the individual performers are of more equal status), so it does open up a can of worms for borderline cases. That's not an excuse to do nothing, but just to say it's more complicated than it first looks. The album was re-credited here to Paul and Linda because somebody pointed out that it used to be listed incorrectly as only Paul.

True, but Paul McCartney's Wings albums are included under his name, and Wings includes not only Linda McCartney, but Denny Laine, and sometimes a few others (depending on which album you look at).

What's really weird is that The Stooges is listed as a child act for Iggy Pop. I'll then suggest that Nirvana should be a child act for Foo Fighters. And that The Velvet Underground should be a child act for John Cale.

agree, it's inconsistent and needs sorting out. I don't mind changing this album so it falls under Paul, but a problem with the current system is that if album is credited to Paul, Linda would get no credit even though she co-wrote six of the twelve songs (at least, according to the credits).

Does Yoko Ono get any credit for Double Fantasy?

the current system is inconsistent, and need to think about what changes are needed to put things right.
