I am in a early jazz mood this morning. Love this song by Louis Armstrong from 1952. This was part of a series of Decca recordings that were aimed at the white audience, easy access but still so beautiful. It is called "I wonder"

If you're into EARLY jazz, pick up Armstrong in The Hot Fives & The Hot Sevens, Volumes 1 & 2. It was all recorded between 1925 and 1927. The quality is excellent for the time, and these guys just roll. A great way to hear Armstrong when he was a real cornet player, before he couldn't play much anymore.

Also worthwhile is Louis Armstrong & King Oliver on Milestone. 23 tracks recorded between 1923-24. The quality isn't as good, but the music is still amazing.

I do have those recordings and they are spectacular, thanks for the head ups anyway. I thought that everyone had heard the hot five and seven sessions and maybe haven't heard the songs he sang in the 1950s, although not as good as his 20s recording but interesting to listen to.

shamefully, I've only heard Armstrong's version of Porgy and Bess. This track is decent though. I prefer Ellington for old jazz though
