I do prefer Ibrahim Ferrer's Buenos Hermanos, and maybe even Flor de Amor by Omara Portuondo.

This album (a good one, that's true) has practically nothing to do with Buena Vista Social Club in terms of style. It's basically instrumental mambo with a retro, mock-Hollywood-like feel to it. It's good, but it's not the same music, it's not 'son' at all.

Manuel Galbán was a Cuban guitarist best known for his work with the all-star ensemble Buena Vista Social Club and its various offshoots.

Doesn't make it the same genre though, does it?

I never said Galban had nothing to do with BVSC. But this album is very far from 'son', and I wouldn't advise it to someone wanting to listen to some more son. Your other picks - well, those I know - are spot on.

Oh, and Naples: quoting's fine. Quoting without giving one's sources is plagiarism.

All the albums I recommended were in the Cuban Traditions style, including Buena Vista Social Club. Do they all sound the same? No, for that, just replay the same album. You won't broaden your musical palate though.
