When I was maybe 7 - 9 I asked my mum to buy me a tape, it was either S club, Nsync or Backstreet Boys, I played about 5 seconds of it at home before everyone in the whole house teasing me became to much to handle and I stormed off to my room. It kept happening for about a week.

I didn't listen to music voluntarily again for about 5 years. Laughing

I wonder if that's why I never really enjoyed that sort of music again, if so then thank you family. Mr. Green

my parents where not really that big into music but i did have a steady van Morrison, jimmy buffet, rolling stones and weird al diet on family road trips, all bands that i love today. a little later my mom got me addicted to Seal Paul as well which i find amusing.

Then when i was about 15 my sister introduced me to Gogol bordello and Josh Ritter and that's what really sparked my interest in music.

My adventure with music began in dull times when I was about ten years old. At the beginning I listened to the radio mainly because the only way you could hear something interesting. But it was not that much. Then they were in Poland, only four radio stations. From time to time you could buy a disc, most frequently Polish artist. Sometimes it happened that a friend somehow got album of foreign artist and then you could borrow it and on tape. But step by step you get to know new artists and it stuck. Greater access to music appeared only in the eighties.

French psychiatrists are overrated.

This album had a big influence on my music taste in 2004 :

This movie and its music almost had the same effect on me back then.. I started listening to The Shins (select songs, rather than albums though) and some other similar indie/alternative music. But then I heard DSotM and it all went to toilet... At least until 2009 when I re-discovered it, through Broken Social Scene's YFIIP (primarily) and others.

I didn't care about music until I started hearing things on the radio and seeing things on MTV that were different from what I thought music could be. U2 and the Escape Club or whatever, stuff like that. From then on all my allowance started going into albums! :p
