Have you ever heard of the Burial album Untrue? It's a good album, and it's dubstep. If all you know about dubstep is Skrillex, then please listen to Untrue because Skrillex and all other "wub wub wub" aritsts are not dupstep, but rather brostep. Untrue sounds nothing like that.

There's a difference between electronic and dubstep. As far as I can tell, I consider Untrue to be an electronic album. i dislike dubstep, but electronic is alright in my book.

In interest of having no further confusion and not being misinterpreted, I dislike modern dubstep. I think that'll help. That's really the dubstep I was referring to. Older dubstep I haven't had much of a chance to listen to so can't say much about that.

I'm going to assume you mean the stuff with the distorted mid-range, e.g. Skrillex. Dubstep is only like 10-15 years old. It was an offshoot of UK garage, grime and 2-step, and has gone on to to incorporate elements of house, techno, reggae and ambient music amongst other genres. What I think you are referring to is "brostep", Americanised dubstep aimed at frat boys. Which is clearly shit.

"brostep" is still a subgenre of dupstep.

Not that I like his music, but if Skrillex wasn't so popular, he would be hailed as the most innovative electronic producer since Justice.
