Will win: The Hurt Locker- I guaranty it
Should win: The Hurt Locker or Inglourious Basterds- both great
Films that should have been nominated for Best Picture: Fantastic Mr. Fox and In The Loop, which were both extremely good, and funny. I've no idea how the Blind Side could get in over either of those two.

I'm hurt that Where the Wild Things Are got completely ignored. I'm also a little annoyed that critics keep framing the "Hurt Locker vs. Avatar" debate as art versus money. Avatar was a powerful movie and deserves to be considered among the best this year. I think Avatar will win it, but Inglourious Basterds was probably my favorite.

i'm not againt the victory of hurt locker, but 6 oscars it was just too much. i still think Avatar deserved to win the oscar ... 4 years of work, a real revolution in the movie history, the whole planet loved it ... at least james cameron deserves best director.

I didn't.
I wasn't awed by the visuals - impressed to some extent but far from awed. Didn't think for a project Cameron spent over a decade on that his world was all that well fleshed out (a planet with only around a dozen species of animal?). Story was weak and clicheed. Main characters lacked real depth and seemed like generic sci-fi archetypes.
Came away wishing I'd waited for the (non-3-D) DVD. _________________ <(: @ >

I still think Inglourious Basterds should have won best screenplay. I can't expect it to take home all the awards I thought it deserved but it was the most well written movie of 2009.
