Pretty much anyone who's covered an Adele song ever. Even the people who put intentionally terrible covers on YouTube make me go "Well, you signed Adele, why the fuck aren't these people famous?"
I've yet to hear a Radiohead cover I enjoyed more than the original (I can't really imagine anyone doing Thom Yorke better than, well, Thom Yorke), but Gnarls Barkley's cover of Reckoner came damn close. Also, the entire Radiodread album (look it up if you've not heard of it) was just as close.
Pearl Jam's version of "Last Kiss". It is possibly the worst thing they've done in their entire existence, but the original song was even worse.
Jimi Hendrix's version of "All Along the Watchtower". While I'm on Dylan covers, George Harrison's version of "If Not For You" was also far better. In fact, any cover of a Dylan song by someone who can actually fucking sing is probably better than the original.
Agree with all of this. Last Kiss is one of my least favorite Pearl Jam songs, but it certainly blows away the original.
Also agree with the Radiohead comment. But if you've never seen this video, check it out, it's really cool.
I just adore the Bowling for soup's cover of Suspicious minds. The original doesn't appeal to me that much. Of course this was back when Bowling for soup were more like old green day.
Bob Dylan actually said it was his favorite cover of Baby Blue _________________ "Drink beer, smoke pot, and create something that will storm heaven. That's all I ever really cared about." - Ron House
