I've always found this Uematsu score to have a good bit of bloat, but when it hits, it HITS.

Well, I've never listened to the actual soundtrack, but I've played this so much I'm sure it's all in brain somewhere. The regular battle music is one of my favourite videogame-songs of all time.

I didn't know video game soundtracks were eligible. Final Fantasy generally has good soundtracks.

I much prefer FFX's soundtrack, but this set the template for that. I could listen to Besaid and Servants of the Mountain from FFX on repeat, and have often.

Kondo is probably my second favorite video game composer, but I don't think they're even close. They do have very different styles, though, so it's all about taste. "Bombing Mission" and "One-Winged Angel" are probably my two favorite video game compositions of all time.

Interesting. I like the FFX soundtrack, but I prefer the soundtracks to VIII and IX. VIII has "Find Your Way" and "Force Your Way" (both incredible), as well as "Ride On", which is a damn fun arrangement. IX's wasn't received quite as well, but it definitely deserves some credit for "Eternal Harvest", "Jesters of the Moon", "Feel My Blade", and "Tantalus Theme" (and a handful of others, but I won't list them all).
