Excellent album, ranked pretty highly in my top 100, and Keane's best until this year's Strangeland, which is making a strong contention for my top 100, probably in the top 40 somewhere. _________________ <(: @ >

"Keane is a Coldplay ripoff" - thought I would have heard this already.
Keane always get blasted for being another piano rock band. Their music isn't terrible. Under The Iron Sea is a well-crafted album and I believe better than Hopes and Fears.
Next band to give crap to: The Music.
Any takers?

Are these guys even around anymore?
I lump them with Jet and Reef.

Keane's better than Coldplay - and no wonder, since Chris Martin wanted Tim Rice-Oxley to be his pianist/keyboardist when forming his band. But they're no rip-off, as Tim Rice-Oxley was already in a band called The Lotus Eaters in which he played...that's right...piano.
But ultimately what makes them better is a better voice in Tom Chaplin and frankly, more personally connecting lyrics. They did get away with that a bit with Perfect Symmetry, which is why it's not considered their best album (it grew on me though). But overall, they're definitely much better at songwriting. _________________ <(: @ >
