An album I'd kind of forgotten about until recently. Definitely my favorite Dylan album, mostly because the songs are so much more emotional than the ones on most of his '60s albums.

Agree with mercurydylan that this is one that deserves a more attentive listen than some of his others. I like the more personal lyrics but I certainly enjoy John Wesley Harding, Highway 61, Blonde on Blonde, Bringing It all Back Home and Freewheelin more.

After some research, it's Andy Samberg's favorite record as well. Dafuq? Who's next, Nicolas Cage?

One of my least favorite favorite Bob Dylan albums. Still great though.

In my top ten albums and my favorite album by Uncle Bob. This album allowed those of us following the man in the early seventies know we had a real live human being, not a poet-servant as a hero. Ditching his long-time backing band to record an album with studio pros from the sticks makes this an oddball in his cannon. The music is stripped down to just above the sound he had as a folkie. There's no such thing as a 'best' Dylan album...just favorites. This is mine.

He also employed some session musicians for "Blonde on Blonde", though. Anyway, "Blood on the Tracks" is fantastic. Maybe my favourite Dylan album, at least half of it surpasses anything else he's done. I love the warm production, the subtlety of the bass, the effects on the vocals, the vocals themselves, the lyrics....and let's not forget the "New York Sessions", which features some mindblowing versions of certain songs ("Tangled Up In Blue" especially). I'd urge anyone who plays guitar to tune it to open D tuning (with capo on 2nd fret) and learn some of the songs, it's a blast to play them that way. <3
