Mostly good, though I've never enjoyed Shine on you Crazy Diamond parts VI-IX at all for some reason.

Very good. Not as good as DSOTM (and I've recently been really taken with Piper, though I'm not sure that will last), but excellent nevertheless. Only track I'm not huge on is "Have a Cigar", but even it's pretty good. Opening track is definitely the best.

One the earliest albums I truly loved. Maybe as a twelve year old? Anyhow, not a lot to be said here. Incredible effort from one of the best bands of all time.

Track picks
1. Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Pt. I)
2. Welcome to the Machine
5. Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Pt. II)

It does not reach the epic heights of The Wall and TDSOTM, but it's still excellent and a true classic. The title song was the first Floyd song I really liked

It's a great album for sure-especially the lyrics which emphasize the feelings of alienation, greed and despair, this being almost a concept album about Barrett. The title track is obviously among the finest things they ever did, and SOYCD VI-IX is a brilliant way of closing the album, showing once more Gilmour's amazing skills (and personally I prefer it significantly more than SOYCD I-IV). That said, considering that The Wall and DSOTM are two of my all-time favorite records, this sadly cannot reach their heights. I feel somewhat bad for this, because everybody would underline that WYWH was always so much more sophisticated and understated than these two and I would never seem to get it. Still, it's an amazing album, but there seems to be something there my sensibilities cannot quite grasp. It always amazed me that this album contains, like, 5 tracks, but while other albums are a similar case to this one (In The Court Of The Crimson King comes immediately to mind) this always gave me the feeling that contains more filler than it should have. Welcome To The Machine has great lyrics but musically it's cold, almost uninteresting. Have A Cigar has those incredibly loud keyboards which prevent me from appreciating it for real. In other words, it is amazingly good, but for the masterpiece it is presented to be, it is also disappointing to an extent.

I would have liked 'Wish You Were Here' the song much better if there was a chorus. It has the potential for an amazing chorus yet the best bit is stuck in the last minute or so of the song. Could have been a 10/10 song. Sad

At least it's not as bad as The Wall.
