Amateurish, ramshackle and frenetic. But that was precisely the point. The Ramones arrived on the scene at the right time. Prog-rock had reached its nadir of over-indulgence and pomposity. The Ramones represented its antidote. This album is alright in short bursts but I find it hard to get through the whole thing without getting bored. The novelty wears off after about 10 minutes.
