So what's the actual purpose of Canada Day?

July 1st, 1867 we negotiated our independence as an act of British Parliament. Very civil and orderly.

Fireworks, concerts, and drinking. Maybe going to the lake. No chest-thumping or xenophobic slogans.

Went to a barbecue where I ate moose steak, drank rye, listened to lots of Canadian music (Shadowy men on a shadowy planet, rural Alberta advantage, woodpigeon, mountaineer, The saides, chixdigit, and the dudes) and smoked Cuban cigars (which feel very Canadian) Now I'm settling in to watch some trailer park boys.

Feeling pretty dang patriotic right now, Canada is the bomb

I only have 4 Canadian bands on my chart, but they're all in my top 40. Godspeed, Do Make Say Think, Broken Social Scene, and Arcade Fire. Canada's pretty cool. Oh I also have Neil Young on my chart but it's Neil Young and Crazy Horse, so mixed nationalities. Still Neil Young though. One more for Canada.

I don't know if I've already brought this up, but the lead guitarist of Do Make Say Think works as a clerk at my second favourite record store.

And a happy day for my neighbors!

(Edit: although it appears I'm a bit late, for the east coast at least)

What was I thinking! Brick wall lol. Mistakes happen, but when I think of Canada, that was one of the first bands to come to mind for whatever reason.
