This idea has been perpetuated by lies and jokes against me. I once joked about Post-rock not being up to par after not enjoying an album that night and everyone clung onto it. The stereotype was thrust onto me by some prolific users on here.
Everything posted here does interest me very much. I have liked all music which has graced my ears to some degree.
I think you'd really like the group Parenthetical Girls. I recommend the album Entanglements. The music is very melodramatic and lyrical. Somewhere along the lines of Morrissey meets Xiu Xiu meets Judy Garland. _________________ http://jonnyleather.com

I'll be onto that I must admit I've dropped the ball lately with all these recommendations and I tend to forget who has said what.
Your description reminds me of this lot and their song:

Oh, please, let's not make this another "everybody's against me"-thread. My impression of your taste in music is purely based on your chart, ratings, reviews, etc., not on any false stereotypical pictures of you made by others. I sure hope we still can take each others preferences into account when we recommend music. If you're not into Boards of Canada (I don't know how exactly you feel about BoC), why would I recommend a chart with similar music?
No idea if any of this made any sense. My point is that I hope we're still friends. Or something. _________________ "The Beatles, the greatest band known to mankind." - Bismah Mughal

No, you're getting me wrong again. The first line is evidence of that.
Where I thought people were joking before, I found they were actually being annoyed. I'm going out of my way to deny anything like what was implied with your post before this one as I've learned if I ignore it snowballs into a much bigger problem.
I would prefer people to recommend me anything, not based on what I like. I've got Boards of Canada albums so ofcourse you can recommend albums like the ones by them.

You know what, I'm too tired right now to think properly! But one thing I can say, I've never been annoyed by anything you've said recently, so based on that, I hope we're cool. What I originally said had nothing to do with anything but avoiding wasting time on recommending something you wouldn't be interested in anyway.
So, I'll leave it there. _________________ "The Beatles, the greatest band known to mankind." - Bismah Mughal

No problem I've been feeling very conscious of how people might be seeing me these past few days. I'm sorry. You take care.
I'm liking the charts we have so far. I'm building up a list for myself.
Well back on topic:
back then, when I was just lurking around BEA and RYM before deciding to actually create an account, I guess the chart who influenced my musical taste the most was joannajewsom's overall chart:

It's thanks to him that I discovered some of my all time favourites like Shiina Ringo, Ewa Demarczyk, and Fela Kuti (although I would discover then sooner or later, who knows if it would have had the same impact on me).
Nowadays, the charts I tend to check the most are The Poe's and bongritsu's, specially if I'm in the mood for something new and exiting.
