LUSTMORD - The Word As Power

Country: UK

1. Babel
2. Goetia
3. Chorazin
4. Grigori
5. Andras Sodom
6. Abaddon
7. Y Gair

Currently this sits as my number 1. This may change soon but the album is the first album Lustmord (aka Brian Williams) has used voice as a primary tool. This is a challenge of an album. Not only is it a long, droning experience, Lustmord spends a lot of time on perfecting moments in his music. The album evokes memories of Dead Can Dance, dark ambient heydays and cinematic soundscapes.

P.S.: Check the page below for the credits of the vocal talents.

Oooh, I just started it and it does bring Dead Can Dance to mind. That is a very good thing. Very Happy

Edit: Hmm, not too sure that dark ambient is my sort of thing. Can't deny that it is good, but...may be a bit too dense and dark and going-nowhere for me. Maybe I need to be in a more imaginative and thoughtful mood.

Thought I'd get back into this... and I started here.

Moody... I could see this hitting me in different ways depending on my current state of mind.

Incredibly dense material and at some times too deep for me. But I genuinely enjoyed the listen, and it was very rewarding to finish it all the way through. I'll have to give it another listen soon. It gives me a similar feeling as Swans recent release. At first I didn't really understand the hype and wasn't really sure what I was listening to for over an hour and a half. But once it clicked it was a very solid listen. I imagine this album being similar in that way.

Fantastic recommendation, friend.

The first few comments caused me to be a bit apprehensive going into this album, all of that was remedied by the vocals in the first track. Then the first track never seemed to end. That was kinda my feelings about the album.

First of all, it's just not what I would listen to regularly, so it probably wont get a lot of spins to allow for growth.

Each track sounds so great, but then they don't seem to end. Without being in a proper introspective mood, i just cant hang with it.

-My order of ALC Albums so far-

1. Southeastern
2. Partygoing
3. Country Sleep
4. A Brief Intro to Unnatural Light Years
5. Som Sakrifis
6. Other life
7. Sing to the Moon
8. The Word as Power
9. Sub Verses
10. Devil Put the Dinosaurs Here
11. Future is Cancelled
12. Infestissumam

Also... This is a link to a Spotify playlist of all the ALC albums in chronological order (except Future is Cancelled).
I will continue to update it each week.

Spoitfy is typically my go-to source for music, it is free to use on your computer (with an email address). And I know musicians get a percentage of the subscriptions for "premium accounts."
