The Strokes became crap at an alarming rate after their first album, as did Interpol

Is This It is one of my favourite albums ever released; Room on Fire is a great follow up, with the tracks Reptillia, 12:51, The End Has No End and I Can't Win as the highlights... but First Impressions of Earth simply sucks for me. The only track I like in that album is You Only Live Once. The Juicebox bassline is too similar to the one in Brand New Cadillac, and I dont like Heart in a Cage.
I still think that the definitive Strokes song is Is This It.
Looking forward to their new album. _________________ And If a Double Decker Bus, Crashes into us...

I'll try again
Guys... I think I have found the definitive "indie" anthem. A song which is the epitome of the scene they call "indie". The lyrics really epitomize what they call "indie" in the 00s-10s.

Spoon's That's the Way We Get By could have a chance; but look to LCD Soundsystem's Losing My Edge or All My Friends for a definitive indie anthem

I know I'm about half a year late, but are you implying to the "I got nothing to say" part of the lyrics.. (Can't say I agree with you though)

Yup.
I go back and forth between Is This It and Room on Fire as my favorite Strokes album. I can't remember the last time I listened to First Impressions of Earth, so maybe I should give it another listen.
At first, I thought it was crazy to call "Ask Me Anything" an indie anthem, but I listened to it again, and I guess the lyrics kind of give me that vibe. The song as a whole? Mmm... not so much...

If we're discussing what could be the definitive indie anthem "I'll Believe In Anything" by Wolf Parade always did wonders for me the lyrics, the music, and the vocals all scream 'indie' to me and it is a unforgettable song. Also agree with Purple on "All My Friends" and to a lesser extenet "Way we get by" as possible contenders.
