I'm not saying you said you dislike the Allman brothers but I get the idea you do. And there is never any question you just generally seen to dislike every band between about 69-80 who played classic rock or blues rock. Maybe this is just a slight misconception. |
To be honest this is more true for me than with Frogger. I just don't find much to connect with them. Perhaps a fault of my listening skills but I think I can comfortably say I dislike every band between 69-80 that I've heard who played classic rock or blues rock. Doesn't suit my ears or personality at all. Aside from, like, Led Zeppelin, they're good.
Haven't heard either of these albums, will get on that.

I have nothing but respect for the Allman Brothers. Duane Allman was a phenomenal guitar player. But for some reason their music has never clicked with me. Roland S Howard is not a pretty man, but he's been involved in some of my favorite bands ever. for some reason i had overlooked his solo work until this tournament started and I saw his name mentioned. Naturally Teenage Snuff Film is incredible.
side note: was the Birthday Party's debut not nominated?

Jessica, by the Allman Brothers, is my favorite guitar track of all time. But it wasn't on this album. I'm going with everyone who said that Teenage Snuff Film was one of the best discoveries of the tournament.
I especially liked his interpretation of "She Cried", which had been a 60's hit for Jay and the Americans. He adds "Oh, my God, what have I done?? What have I done??" which adds a dark edge to a song that was already very sad.
Vote goes to Mr. Howard.

Abstain. Allman Brothers are great at what they do, but what they do is not what I like much; whereas Howard is probably more in my comfort zone, but is definitely not the best at what I like. All in all, I'll let everybody else decide.

I was thinking it (in regards to The Boys Next Door's Door Door). But fate stepped in.
