Perhaps the new country category could be country + folk, and a new jazz category could be blues + jazz, in order to have them field a larger number of nominations.
Also, for Lifetime Achievement Award, if I remember correctly last year it was just the top artist that was inducted. What if it was similar to real halls of fame, where you need to get a certain percentage of votes in order to be inducted (so if there are five nominees and two of them get at least 75% of the votes they both get inducted), unless no artist breaks the threshold and then only the top artist is inducted.
Another category suggestion would be best album/song by a BEA member.
Looking forward to the BEAMAs again this year regardless.

Not a bad idea. I'll confer with the board. (Loveless)

Well I'll probably do what i did last year and leave this up to harkan since it was his idea. But for my money I'd prefer to keep it to one a year.

Yeah will definitely be having this considering how much was released by BEA members this year.

I actually like this idea for country+folk and jazz+blues categories. But then I hope that we won't get blues-rock fusions (can't remember any album this year, but something like Jack White's Blunderbuss last year) making that category, or similarly, rock albums that take their inspiration from country or folk (like.. are The Men really country etc). I'd reserve this for albums that have little to do with other categories (rock, alternative, pop, etc.)
What are other people's thoughts?

Why bother putting a good idea in a smaller size? _________________

We'll be open for voting very soon but first here's some RULES
- Debut Album: Only an artists Debut studio album is eligible. Not debut mixtapes or ep's.
- Best User-Created Album: Albums, mixtapes and EP's are eligible.
- Best Instrumental Album: a small amount of vocal sampling is okay but for the most part it needs to be all music. Any genre is okay.
- Lifetime Achievement Award: the artists you nominate have to have had their debut album out before 1999
- Worst Album/Worst song: PLEASE only nominate albums and songs that you have listened to - I find it hard to believe that many people listened to Chris Brown's Fortune last year and yet it was easily nominated.
- Best Song Of The Year: any song released this year as a single or on an album (even if released as a single last year) is eligible
that's all I can think of for now. If any of these rules are broken we won't be telling you your song or album is ineligible it just won't be counted - so please make sure when you're voting. And just one TIP - with the genre awards nothing will be ineligible in any category you want to put it in. An album can not be nominated under 2 genres so we count it for whichever genre it ends up getting the most points in (if it gets enough to get nominated). SO it's probably a good idea to vote for music in categories you think most people will vote for them in. Conversely if you're not sure which genre to nominate something in because it may fall under multiple genres maybe nominate it in the genre you think it will have the best chance in (e.g. The Bones Of What We Believe could fall under electronic or pop or maybe even indie/alt but since electronic is so packed this year it might have a better chance in pop).
Also the eligibility period for all music is 01/01/13-31/12/13 so anything released this year basically. Maybe you want to wait for the 31st maybe you don't think there's any need - up to you.
