I hope you're spending plenty of time with punk and reggae in the late 70s.

Punk (or post-punk) makes up about half my listening list in the late '70s. I've already heard and enjoyed a lot of reggae, though tbh, I think I prefer dub.

Very Happy I'm not sure I've ever understood the difference between the two though. Isn't dub included in reggae? I think the brand I like the most, with vocal harmonies etc, is called roots. But yeah I don't really know tbh xD

Some say so... I dunno, I think it sounds different enough to be its own genre. It's far less raw, involving mostly remixes, but somehow feels more primitive to me. I think it's because they emphasize rhythm more.

I did. I enjoyed the first and third the most. It's funny that the third was released in 1978, cause it almost sounds like post-punk.

Yes! That's pretty much the common consensus. You should definitely watch their documentary "Nothing Can Hurt Me". It's on Netflix and would probably be interesting even for people not into their music.

I hope you aren't forgetting disco and the beginnings of electro-funk.

I actually enjoyed Saturday Night Fever (the soundtrack)... well, the parts that the Bee Gees didn't do, anyway. I do think I'll need more recs in that area, though. I've listened to a lot of George Clinton's stuff and Chic, but not much else.

Maybe I'll start the new thread this week, if I find the time.
