Synthesist, easily, was one of my favourites of the whole tourney. Sad Thing just kinda sounded way too monotonous and inconsistent, and Synthesist was wholeheartedly fantastic.

[Skinny]

Synthesist is one of my favourite albums ever made, its lilting arpeggios and strangely calming drones just take me to another world. I love the way the album varies wildly in tone and tempo from beginning to end, but manages to maintain a certain oneness through its clever use of repeated motifs. Whilst I was living in London it was my go-to tripping balls album, and me and a various assortment of friends old and new spent many a night staring at ceilings and getting lost in our own thoughts to the sounds of Grosskopf. The epic title track acts as the perfect centrepiece, a track that pulls together all of the album's ideas and threads into one of the single greatest pieces of music I've ever heard, and it's almost as though everything before it is a preparation for that track whilst everything succeeding it is a warm-down, leaving the listener to float gently back to the real world following their slow ascension. So yeah, I probably did a few too many psychedelics to this record, but whatever. This shit is the mad note.
