I remember getting this disc by accident because I didn't return my postcard to Columbia House. (Some of you know what I am talking about). It became a cd in constant rotation in the house I was renting at the time between my and my roommates. We all loved it.

Favorite tracks: Birdhouse In Your Soul, Istanbul (Not Constantinople), Twisting, Someone Keeps Moving My Chair.

Least Favorite: Minimum Wage. Only because my roommate used this as our Saturday early morning wake up song after a hard night of drinking to wake up everyone in the house. Ugh.

This album reminds me of Costello's Imperial Bedroom, except nowhere near as good. I dunno, they wear thin pretty quickly for me. A little too consciously wacky. There's no doubt that they're capable of absolute pop gold ('Twisting', 'Birdhouse in Your Soul'), but then they're also capable of 'Particle Man'. The definition of a hit or miss band.

Have you heard their first two? They may be more up your alley. They're much less in-your-face-weird and tbh quite a bit more consistent.

I've heard this one and Lincoln. Neither have convinced me that I need to check them out further, but maybe one day I'll take the plunge.

Their best album by a good margin, I liked Ana Ng but this was the one I bought first.
