Great record. Though tbh R.E.M. from 1982-1987 are pretty much unbeatable. Cool

Frequently cited as R.E.M.'s best, but I'd gladly place it in their bottom 5 records.

The first four songs are great, King Of Birds is a hidden gem, End of The World and The One I Love are iconic, but other than that the songs here really don't hit the mark. Strange is a daft cover, Fireplace doesn't really go anywhere and Lightnin' Hopkins is just cringeworthy.

Never really understood the praise here, but still a decent album, I just feel like Monster and Adventures in Hi-Fi are much better choices if you're hungry for some more distorted R.E.M.

When REM were starting to become a good band. Album has The One I Love and End of world song which makes it all so much better. Works great as a whole. The sound is much bigger than on Green although that album is very charming. I like the title Document. I think the band said they choose it because it was a "document" of one point in time in their. So I guess the title does what it says unlike 'Monster' which doesn't sound like a Monster.

Welcome To The Occupation is another good song Smile I had this album on my chart at one point.
