Well that Basehead record got me exactly zero thanks from the people from this fine community I gently partook of it with. It is therefore a work of evil that cannot bring gratitude, let alone love or happiness, to this world, and I feel compelled to vote against it.

One point for Tical.

I like both a lot, and I feel I likely would have gone Tical either way, but I also have a hard time really considering Play With Toys a hip-hop album. Like, I see the vague elements in there, but if it hadn't have been introduced to me in a hip-hop tourney I'd like never even associate the genre with it, just see it as a kind of low-key early 90s indie rock album.

totally agree, and I mentioned my reservations during the nomination process. As one of the first indie rock records to introduce hip hop concepts back in the early 90s, people really didn't know how to classify it back then, and it unfortunately fell through the cracks. Keep in mind that's Beck's Mellow Gold didn't drop for two more years. So at the time it was sort of lumped with conscious hip-hop which was a poor fit. Which is a shame because it's a real chill & fun listen. A lost classic of slacker indie rock from the early 90s. Just wanted to share it with y'all and saw this tourney as good chance.

Really glad a few of you liked it!!! Very Happy

Tical is probably the weakest Wu-Tang release from that ridiculous 1993-1997, 36 Chambers through Wu-Tang Forever run, but there's zero shame in that. Regardless of whether Play With Toys is hip-hop (doesn't sound like it to me, but I can sort of see a passing resemblance), I prefer Tical. It was actually one of the first albums I bought on vinyl when I got my first set of turntables. 'Meth vs. Chef' and 'Release Yo Delf' are my jams.

I guess that it's safe to say that these toys are, well, out of season.

11-7
