I still find it hard to believe that Boy in da Corner isn't in our top 750. Hell, it's not even in our top 1500. That's kinda wacky. I haven't heard the other record yet but it will have to be something pretty special to beat out Dizzee Rascal.

I love both these albums pretty much equally, but the decision is easy. Super Tight was pretty much the blueprint for Southern hip-hop that came afterwards, creating a funky sound that resembled Willie Hutch or the Meters more than it did James Brown (New York hip-hop) or George Clinton (West Coast), and featuring a pair of MCs with almost unmatched chemistry and charisma. Boy in da Corner was the first grime full-length to really capture the public's imagination, and it's arguable that it's the genre's definitive document (though I'd also put forward arguments for some of those early-2000s pirate radio sets, and early Wiley instrumentals obviously). But yeah, there's almost nothing to choose between these two albums, but Super Tight is certainly the better hip-hop album, on the basis that it's actually a hip-hop album. And, in a hip-hop album tournament, it just wouldn't feel right to vote for Dizzee. I understand others may feel different, and that's their prerogative. But I can't bring myself to vote for a grime album, especially in a matchup in which its opponent is one of the greatest hip-hop albums ever made.

Super Tight, though Ridin Dirty is better and should have been the UGK album that got nominated. I've already expressed my disdain for BIDC and it's also not a hip hop album.
