Is it solipsistic in here or is it just me?

Cannibal Corpse and Death are the absolute kings of death metal for me. But I will chime in with a few more recs:

Wolverine Blues by Entombed

Swansong by Carcass

Humanure by Cattle Decapitation

World Of Confusion by Suffocated

Black Force Domain by Krisiun

The Stalker by Eminence

Kingdom Of Conspiracy by Immolation

Warpath by Six Feet Under

and what about:

Effigy Of The Forgotten by Suffocation

first time I listened to this album I understood why they used to call it brutal death Laughing

Thanks for the tip! I will have to check that out. Check out the similarly named Suffocated. More groove than death, but still pretty brutal sounding.

Dude. "The Mantle" by Agalloch.
After i heard In The Shadow of Our Pale Companion I have listened through the album twice. Not exactly brutal but holy smokes is it a good album.
I've listened to one Windir song, so don't take this as an educated opinion, but it reminded me of the "if death metal sounded happy" video on YouTube. I'll let you interpret that haha.

Hehe this guy knows what's up. The Mantle is definitely more folk metal than anything. For more stuff kind of in that vein I'd probably recommend:

The Voice Of Steel by Nokturnal Mortum

and

Verisäkeet by Moonsorrow

and probably also:

Bergtatt – Et eeventyr i 5 capitler by Ulver

Pretty much the only thing you can say about it. Words are hard to describe how good it is.

Here's a couple more:

The Gallery by Dark Tranquillity

Clandestine by Entombed

Mabool: The Story Of The Three Sons Of ...haned Land

Alaska by Between The Buried And Me

Watershed by Opeth
