Brilliant album, one of best best pop rock punk/emo whatever albums. This album is really underrated and I think that if the forum regulars opened their minds to this they would find something to love here. Jimmy Eat World tend to get written off as a one hit wonder teenager pop punk band when they were a lot more musically talented and skillful at songwriting than their contemporaries. This album is fantastic and even if you don't like JEW's 00s stuff, this album could still change your mind. Songs like Table for Glasses, Just Watch the Fireworks, and For Me This Is Heaven are emotionally wrenching and the lyrics throughout the album are very well written, especially for a mainstream radio rock band. The post-rock-esque 16 minute closer is wonderful too.

Agree with WindowAbove here, brilliant stuff. I think I've been spared a lot of the negative associations people have with this kind of music because it wasn't a thing until after I finished high school. In fact, I don't think I've ever met anyone who identified as "emo"...

I used to love this in ninth grade, but more and more I've moved myself over to the Pitchfork camp. This really is way too whiny and syrupy.

I can't believe this is in the 1000 best ever albums list.
Just. Wow. And why Static Prevails is so underrated on this website?

Your New Aesthetic sounds like a "emo/post-hardcore"(scene) song from 2004 instead of 1999.

One of the best albums ever. "Goodbye Sky Harbor" is one of the best ambient songs of all time, such a nice and somber ending.
