One Direction/Backstreet Boys of the 60s until Help, the songs are loaded with love cliches and generic manufactured pop with the target demographic in mind. Yet, due to era bias and the band's reputation, people pretend the band's early stuff is more complex and innovative than it is. It's not bad, but neither is One Direction. I enjoy a few songs here like I Should Have Known Better (though it's not Sufjan), If I Fell, & And I Love Her.

I agree with you to some extent, but The Beatles at their best have a certain charm for me...not sure if that has to do with the quality of the music itself.

Pop perfection. Love all of these songs. Haven't heard it in a long while though I think it's in my top 3 Beatles _________________

Solid pop songs, but they don't have any positive or negative effect on me at all, just completely average for me.

Buddy Holly and The Everley Brothers made music for this particular demographic as well and we still remember them as fantastic artists. Their music was not complex, but it was innovative. The music they made was different from music made previously and they perfected the chords, tone, length, structure, lyrical content, etc. to capture the attention and devotion of a large demographic that was hitherto not catered to.
Hard Day's Night is notable for being surprisingly consistent for a pop album up to that point. There were no covers - all songs written by The Beatles. And the singles are still incredible. Their first great album imo, not as good as Rubber Soul, but better than Let It Be. _________________
