I don't see them having much impact on music from the states at all. However, that whole scene was culturally important in the uk. It certainly was a catalyst in getting a generation of working class youth into alternative music that would probably normally not listen to it. The indie scene before was mostly seen as a college kids thing. It also helped blur the lines genre wise.
And yes bye bye badman is maybe the best track for me along with sugar spun sister which sit nicely in the middle. Not sure about any skippers though
