I saw Alice in Chains with Monster Truck. in Hunington,WV
the only thing that could have made it better would to have Layne be alive. |
I got to see AIC with Layne at what might have been one of their last shows with him. They opened for KISS on their reunion tour back in 1996 at Tiger Stadium in Detroit. We got right up in the front row during their set and Layne looked the walking dead. He was actually quite engaging and funny. He cracked a joke upon seeing all the people in their KISS costumes, "How come no one is dressed like me?" But I've never seen anyone so thin and pale.
AIC rocked that day and I'm glad I saw them before he passed. The ironic thing is they replaced STP on the bill because Weiland was in rehab at the time.

I would like a concert with no crowd. Or at least be in an executive box far away from of other people. No crowd would be the best though.

So my dream concert doesn't quite follow the formula presented, but it would consist of 6-10 performers sitting in a circle in a small intimate setting, acoustically playing their own and each others songs. They would laugh and share stories and just play as is if no one was watching.
Here is a list of potential performers:
Bob Dylan
Tom Waits
Neil Young
Todd Snider
Jason Isbell
George Harrison
Hayes Carll
Elliott Smith
Phil Ochs
Townes Van Zandt
Steve & Justin Townes Earle
Ryan Adams
PS they would also all be in their prime and they would all get along. _________________

thats awesome. would have love to see him before he died but, my dad did not like them and when i was old enough to drive they were on hiatus/layne was dead. im not even sure if they even came to WV in the 90's because i sure dont remember hearing anything about it. but finally got to see them, and well worth the money even without layne _________________ gi

if it is a dream concert, I would take 70's version Cheryl Ladd with me to go see The Who, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix and then we would "go get some dessert".

For now I'm going with Radiohead and The Doors opening for Nirvana in my basement. I know I only get to pick three, but Michael Jackson would be there somewhere in the audience grabbing his crotch and moonwalking and whatnot

It would be a marathon 3 day open air festival in Khao Yai National Park in Thailand featuring four stages and about 200 artists. One stage for the main bands, one for lesser known/indie artists, one for accoustic acts and one for electronica and dance. Headliners:Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix and the UYI lineup of Guns 'N' Roses.

I want to go back to 1979 to a nice small sweaty venue that only holds a few hundred with a packet of smokes and watch the following...
Support 1: Joy Division
Support 2: The Specials
Headline: The Jam
