I like the first idea, just wondering how the mechanism for curating the reviews would work.
When you are creating a chart, you can choose to select an album from those that you've rated (your highest rated items are listed first). There's no way to auto-generate a chart from your ratings at the moment (not sure if it's a good idea or not to be able to do this as it takes away the art of curating your own list).
There are only three comments from the past couple of weeks that have more than two helpful votes and are also over 100 characters (& these aren't always 'reviews' but just general comments that people like), so I'm not sure if it would be possible to curate comments algorithmically and get the result that you're after. I think there'd need to be other changes to the site for this to work, such as the ability for people to flag their comment as a review (which has been suggested before and is on the to do list).
