I did listen to that Daniel Johnson record (Don't Be Scared) and it wasn't all that bad for what it is - outsider music. I found the lyrics to be pretty witty. To me it had a sort of Homeless Mustard meets Hasil Adkins feel. Still it isn't something I'd spin regularly, but I would give this another listen, as well as listen to other records by him.
