This was a major turning point for the band. I always recommend this record to people who haven't heard Porcupine Tree. One of their finest moments here, and some of my favorite tracks too. "Trains" is a top Porcupine Tree track.

It is a fantastic album though I find other PT albums better, more complex. Still, some songs like Trains or .3 are really good.

It's cover has scared me away from listening to it.

I'm not a huge aficionado of the Tree, but from what I have heard and acquired, this seems to be their best. They come up with something digestable without dropping their unique, challenging neo-prog structures and sounds.

I think their later albums incorporated metal into their sound more effectively, the best parts here are the Brian-Wilson-esque standard pop format stuff. Heartattack In A Layby is my favourite song on this one.
