For those old enough to have kids who are really into music or young enough to still hang out with your parents -- is there any music you and someone of a different generation really enjoy listening to together?

My daughter (now 22) enjoyed the following music of mine:
early Kinks
early Rolling Stones
Blackmore's Night

Music more from her generation I enjoy
Lacuna Coil
Within Temptation
Sum 41
and even a little Shakira

My son (now 17) shares my love of progressive rock/progressive metal. He loves my
Rush
Kansas
Transatlantic
Blue Oyster Cult
Joe Satriani
and even Dropkick Murphys

and in turn, he has turned me on to:
Disturbed
Chevelle
Amaranthe
Tyr
Coheed and Cambria

like many befroe me, my father showed me the beatles.
and in turn, i showed him radiohead.

actually, i show him most of what i listen to... and he probably enjoys ~75% of it. there's total overlap for all of the jazz and alternative stuff. we part ways when he pulls out the rolling stones or talking heads (no, it wasn't always that way) or when i crank up the witch house or anything supr ambient like Harold Budd. he doesn't really put up with any of the internet anomaly microgenres, really. vaporwave, witch house, chill wave, bubblegum bass, etc.

Out of curiosity, what are your favorite Sum 41 songs/albums OP? I'm also a big fan.

My dad showed me the Who, and the big Christian 80s bands (Stryper, Petra, DC Talk, etc.) and I got him into Disturbed (he loves David Draiman).

Slurpdurp,
My favorite Sum 41 is "Does this Look Infected" (despite the really gross album cover!)

If you like 80s Christian Rock/Metal, you should check out what I think is far and away the absolute best of breed:

Dudes rock hard. Positively wicked bass lines and the singer has a classic 80s metal voice. They sound just like a Christian (early) Rush!

My son (2 and a half) is pretty picky when it comes to music. He gets exposed to whatever I'm listening to, but his only consistent favourite band is Camel (70s prog rock - something I don't have a lot of!).

His real favourite is a Rastamouse CD put out by the BBC - I bought this for him because I figured if I have to buy children's music it may as well be half decent. Anything else his parents can sing!

Camel, you say?
Junior's off to a pretty good start there!
