There's that show, This Is Us, and the dad character asks her daughter, "What's that band you like who always sound like they're kidding?" And she goes, "Weezer?" Would be funnier if Rivers Cuomo wasn't being so self-effacing all the time.
Oh, and this record is an epochal work of genius.

This is basically my life soundtrack from the age of 10 until they released the Green album. Then that became my teenage soundtrack.
What I mean by that is not that I really only listened to this record, but those two records were what was the cultural conglomerate of music. My group of friends, high school dances, what was playing on the radio both in Utah and California, and probably the only records every single one of my friends could agree with was "great".
I really can't think of a record more readily accepted by the culture that surrounded me growing up than this album. Not even The Beatles - cause that's what old people listened to and half my friends had parents who grew up listening to disco instead (barf)... so they were like, who are The Beatles.
