P.S. And may Steve and Billy Joe both be with the Lord...I love them so much too!

Billy Joe Royal was a very good writer. Not too familiar with the others.

Thank you for saying this! The only downside to him was that there were only like three songs released that were written by him: "Love Has No Right", "How Hard Can It Be?", and "This Too Shall Pass". James Otto co-wrote the 2009 ACM and CMA Song of the Year from Jamey Johnson named "In Color" as well as "No Hurry" from the Zac Brown Band and "Holding Her" from Chris Janson (known for "Buy Me A Boat"). One of my most favorite songs from Lee Roy Parnell was self written named "Giving Water To A Drowning Man" and Steve Sanders wrote the B side song to the "Bobbie Sue" 45 record from the Oak Ridge Boys named "Live In Love" as well as a song named "I'm Over You, You're Over Me" which you can check out here...I love him so much.

God bless you and James and Lee Roy always!!!

Are we talking about the same Billy Joe Royal? The one who wrote the classic 60s hits like Down in the Boondocks n Cherry Hill Park n Hush n I Knew You When? Unless im mistaken and he wasnt the writer at all.

I should have put cat Stevens in my list love his songs. Maybe fogherty too but he didn't write anything I can really get behind after that short albeit brilliant burst with ccr.

I can't believe john fogerty didn't even pop into my mind. Considering i think ccr was the greatest American band ever. And mostly because of their awesome songs. Youre absolutely right, they had an unbelievable streak of awesome albums. Even Mardi Gras had some of the greatest songs he evet wrote.

Billy Joe sang them songs, yes, but they were written by other people. "Cherry Hill Park" was written by the late Robert Nix of the Atlanta Rhythm Section act and the late Joe South wrote the other songs that you named.

God bless you always!!!
