I was wondering why I had more emails than usual this morning. When I saw those emails were new chart ratings and comments, I knew that could only mean one thing...Chart of the Day, for the third time since joining BEA in June 2014. Cool beans.

I haven't updated this in over two months, and I see a few things out of order (e.g. Sgt. Pepper and Nevermind are too high). I'm also tempted to put Rumours and Frizzle Fry on my list, but then it's a tough decision on what to remove.

It's always a work in progress, and suggestions are always welcome.

Lastly, I've said this before and I'll say it again. I really wish everybody's chart on BEA could be entirely visible one on webpage, instead of seeing 10 albums at a time. I find it annoying when looking at other user charts that I need to sift through 10 separate webpages in order to see the whole thing. And by the time I'm on page 8 of somebody's list, I cannot remember everything that was on pages 1, 2, 3, etc. Let's be honest, when you're looking at another user's chart, if the Top 10 doesn't catch your attention, you probably don't look at the rest of it. I don't think that's fair, and I would much prefer to see all 100 at the same time on one webpage. However we must understand the role of advertising. Splitting a user chart into 10 separate webpages means 10 times as many advertisements. And advertising helps keep BEA running:

https://www.besteveralbums.com/advertising.php

I don't know exactly how it works, and it probably depends on which pages get the most internet traffic. Do chart pages get more internet traffic than forum pages? I guess the BEA's Overall Chart gets a lot of traffic and it makes perfect sense to have advertisements there. But individual lists? They can't have that much traffic, can they? I don't know. But what can we do? Maybe, for starters, have individual charts split into 5 pages of 20 albums, instead 10 pages of 10? And move some advertising to the forum pages, where I see much fewer ads?

All I know is I would like to see individual user lists in their entirety on one web page. But for now, the only charts we can see in their entirety on one page is The Chart of the Day. And for that reason alone, mine feels special today.

Happy listening all,

SS

First of all, well done for the progress made on your chart. The comments you have added are very thorough.
Don't worry about individual albums too high or low. Every time I look at mine I switch a few albums up and down and wonder whether I should add this or that and which to take off. It is so hard... but the general picture is still there.

As for your comment on having the 100 albums at once, I like to see the chart by slices, but I understand what you mean about the general picture too. Maybe they can keep it like it is and add an option of watching it in one page as we do when we edit the chart. I have no idea whether that is easy to implement or not. It's a fantastic webpage anyway, thanks to everyone who made and makes it work.

lol. So true. I thought it was just me. I'd prefer to look at the charts all on one seamless page roll as well, but I'm sure there's a good reason it's not that way.

Peace, brother and great chart!
