I hadn't heard about Ray. Very sad news, although not unexpected.

The BEST!
Absolutely the best. No finer album ever released in any genre. Positively captivating from end to end. Marvelously diverse, yet coherent throughout. A pioneer both in genre fusion, and concept albums. Groundbreaking on many fronts, even moreso than the same years Sergeant Pepper.
It absolutely blew me away when I first heard it all those decades ago, and it has lost not one iota of its luster in the years since. A true survivor of the test of time.
Impossible to top this album!
