About halfway through. Most of the record I had not listened to I knew about still, but to my surprise, there were quite a lot of things (especially in the 80s and 90s) I had never heard of. I think that list is pretty good to get into music ; lots of rock and pop music, and enough of the rest to spring interest in most of the other genres. But yeah it's definitely pop-rock-centric and is not of big use once one has listened to some music already.
Good reminder for things I've been putting aside for way too long now though...

I've been doing an informal listen-through intermittently over the past couple of years that is at 240, but includes all 1065 across all the editions I know of. But adding those that are still in the 2016 edition to others that I know I've listened to, I'm showing 380 on the list challenge.

Apparently I'm in the top 30 |
Well done.
I'm curious, at 22 that's a lot of listening. Have you used that book as a template to work through?
Also, at 22, are you at all into collecting vinyl and/or CDs, or do you stream everything? |
I haven't used the book, but I might start (check off what's left, why not?). The meat of the unlistened were from the 80's and 90's, and I must admit, some of them I've been avoiding for some time, but I suppose I could give them a spin.
And I collect vinyl and (occasionally) CD's. I think the last time I bought a CD was probably 3 or 4 years ago, but I still take pride in my small collection of them. For the most part I only buy vinyl nowadays (although, they're all in storage right now been on the road a bit).
I stream music occasionally, especially on Bandcamp, but it's not my go-to. I have a Spotify account but perhaps only use it 2-3 times a month for hard-to-find-elsewhere releases (not dead, but not active). If a rare album pops up on Youtube, sometimes I'll do that too, but I prefer not.
Also, truly, this isn't a bad list by any means. I'd rec the 60's-70's section to practically anyone. Just needs more jazz.
