Who are supposedly good actors or actresses that you think are just awful ?

Al Pacino
Winona Ryder
Robert De Niro
Robin Williams
Shirley MacLaine
Tom Cruise
Dustin Hoffman
Olivia de Havilland
John Wayne
Jennifer Aniston
Gregory Peck
Audrey Hepburn
Katharine Hepburn
Jack Nicholson

So...what you're saying here is that you pretty much don't like great actors...

Have you seen Punch Drunk Love or the Meyerwitz stories?

I wouldn't use those films as proof that Sandler can act so much as proof he can follow direction from a filmmaker who isn't gonna let his shit acting ruin their movie. He generally doesnt work with directors near the calibre of Anderson and Baumbach and I'd imagine that's not his decision.

I think what he later said is he found them eventually formulaic.

Like Muse. I really like Muse, but they are incredibly formulaic, and therefore overtime I lost interest in them.

"Supposedly" is pretty condescending. Perhaps wording it better would allow people not to scoff at your suggestions that you implicate.

So, if you consider those actors to be bad, then what makes an actor good?

Actually, most of those are actually good actors who made themselves bad. I didn't even get into people who are genuinely Bad actors that I can't stand. This would be people like , for instance, Adam Sandler and people like that. People who aren't even really actors.

I actually liked Adam Sandler in The Cobbler.

I'll second Jack Nicholson. He usually plays awful gremlins and he's good at awful gremlins so maybe that makes him good but ehh...
Regardless, Shelley Duvall is the real MVP of The Shining <3

Chinatown? The Passenger? One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest? Etc

Nicholson is quite diverse and pigeon-holing him is a bit of a stretch
