It's fine, I guess. Modern Love is a good track. I found out the other day that Bowie told Nile Rodgers that he wanted to sound like Little Richard on this album-I can hear that a bit (particularly on Modern Love). It's an enjoyable enough album, just not all that interesting.

A good album, one of my favourites when I'm driving, and one of my favourites of Bowie perhaps it isn't the most technical of him. Greetings from Uruguay

A Bowie album which I have come to like more and more. Obvs the main singles are ace but so is the lower charting single Cat People, which is a terrific film, I saw it last year. And a great song.

The Niles Rodgers collaboration certainly helped loads and he should have got more credit.

A very poppy album. But it still surprises me that this is his highest selling album in the world (according to the Mail On Sunday article I read two years ago).

It was probably overhyped when it came out and some Bowie purist therefore disliked it because it was so popular.
The truth is, this is a super-fun album. Singles are massive, and the rest of the tracks don't fall that much behind.

Honestly, this is my favorite of his 80s records. I never really got the love for Scary Monsters, it's just as inconsistent and poorly paced as this one, and far less fun. Ashes to Ashes is a great song, but so is Modern Love and Let's Dance.

one of my favouite bowie albums.
when it was released, it was being played all over the radio, dance clubs, parties, etc... it was everywhere.
bowie changed his look ( who would have ever dreamed that ziggy stardust would be wearing a super cool suit???) and his vibe.
truthfully, i was never a huge bowie fan- i listened to him but i preferred other music.
but this album STRONGLY introduced bowie to me. all it took was this album and then i looked at all his other work.
some of my purist friends, prefer his older music and wished that he would have generated more of the same.
not his best work but its really really good.

Just listened to track 4 to 8 for the first time. Good stuff.
The guitar solo on Cat People (by Stevie Ray Vaughan) is roaring !

I really didn't like this that much when it came out because I was one of those Bowie "purists" mentioned earlier in this post. I was wrong.

This has become a favourite amongst Bowie albums. Maybe No. 3 or 4 on my list. Holds its own and stands the test of time. Very enjoyable listen.

Decent album but I guess the other version of Cat People is better.
