Is it solipsistic in here or is it just me?

100% agreed, it's so bizarre. The most comparable voice I can think of is Axl Rose, but Brian Johnson's voice is even more extreme. Also I'm pretty sure he's been wearing the same hat for going on 40 years now.

Yes and also yes.

I'm just imagining the process Brian Johnson went through to find that voice. Like, you don't just naturally go "yea, raspy high falsetto, that'll work," but I dunno, maybe he did

Seems odd to me people would make a point of pointing out how "weird" Brian Johnson's voice is when he replaced.... Bon Scott!

Fortunately, different as they are from each other, they both seem to fit well with the group/music.

To my ears, the shock is less severe than, say, Sabbath going from Ozzy to Dio or The Doobie Brothers going from Tom Johnston to Michael McDonald, or Van Halen going from David Lee Roth to Sammy Hagar or.......

Yeah I agree with you there, especially on Sabbath. I love Dio, but not in Sabbath...

AC/DC with either vocalist is basically still the same group, so I agree. The Doobies with McDonald were a completely distinct thing from what came before (and far better for it).

Michael McDonald turned the Doobies from a decent rock band to a group of lame Seals & Crofts adult contemporary wannabes. Can't agree with you there, Skinny....

Sad
