Album of the day (#3740): This Is The Sea by The Waterboys

Charming mates.

I guess all I was saying is if I had to pick between the Smiths and the Waterboys, I'd chose the Waterboys (Fisherman's Blues I just listened to first time this weekend - odd enough our planets aligned UofTBlues).

And I'd do it like U2=REM > The Waterboys >>> The Smiths (but I did a few less greater than signs ). And Skinny if you are wrong, I'm just plain F'ed.

And yes I am oddly obsessed with going what the actual F when I don't get band quality comparisons. Just meaning like The Smith's have the attention of the internet real hard and I just don't get it. Like don't get me wrong, I dig the Smith's - 10-15 of their songs are absolute Gold, but for me... it almost like this big cliff afterwards, and Morrissey's solo work doesn't make me think, oh, it was just a flower waiting to blossom either.

Then again, U2's blossomed, dried out and then fell apart and now it's just a zombie and anything worthy they did get's thrown out like the baby in the bathwater according to the Internets. Funnily enough, no U2 album even makes Rolling Stone lists anymore, even though Edge and Adam were on the committee to decide the list... hahahahaa. Wonder if they even voted for their own material. Kinda odd... U2 were Rolling Stone poster children and now they don't even top the top 1000 of anything but BEA (not really). The Smith's on the other hand have the internet crowd crooning for more. Interestingly enough, this reminds me of Beatles vs Rolling Stones... one lasted too long and the other too short. The short and sweet took the cake most times.
