I go:
3/5 = good
4/5 =very good;
5/5=great

Some but not all the 5/5s I'd call classics so in theory I could subdivide into 4.5 = great and 5= classic (though I usually don't bother).

A good album is enjoyable but belongs to the time when it's released.

A very good album has more enduring appeal and is well worth revisits.

I tend to think of great albums as having a distinctive influence on other artists as well as having enduring appeal from start to finish.

A classic I would say probably has significant influence on other artists for many years. It would probably influence multiple genres in some way.

Actually, that is the first time I thought this out in any detail!!

Obligatory Weird Al Yankovic reference. No albums that can be hailed as a truly great one (no dig to him, he's just clearly not an album artist), but then again no dud albums either (unless you're counting some of the compilations, which I don't)

Controversial choice but Rolling Stones for me. Even there classic albums have a track or two I find insufferable, with the exception of Exile, I love the variance of that one.

Yes are a band I respect more then I like but I can't really say there's anything there I would call great to my ears.
