Pretty good list, about as good as many one can find. There are maybe a few gripes, like seeing Titanic THAT high, above so many more cinematically creative, visionary, emotionally/thematically interesting films, and so seems a bit silly, to me at least (how could it be that high unless the criteria largely includes something like "how much of a pop-cultural touchstone it has become", which is a questionable mark of artistic greatness). Same confusion with Clueless being so high, if the true merit is its place as cinematic art (when I see this sort of thing, I wonder: are the voters really watching this film anymore or just relying on its place and name check as "pop-cultural phenomenon" to inform their view of its quality?) ... ... ... But Eyes Wide Shut is an interesting #1, and the top 10 overall is pretty interesting, as well as many other seminal choices.

(anyway, neither of those two "gripes" are a big deal, just look a bit awkward above and among so much greater, more visionary and compelling works of cinematic art)

More interesting than agreeable for me but that works so thanks for sharing.

Agree with AH on placings for Titanic and Clueless.

The strength of something like this for me is the diversity of cinema it represents.

Interesting ommissions- no Spacey (I think- cancelled?); no Burton; no Lebowski.

I never liked the number one choice but I’m thinking of revisiting. It is a bold an interesting call for the best film of the 90s at the very least.

Hmm, I thought no '90s list was possible without Trainspotting.
Of course it's easy to put this quibble aside, as it's hard to fault most choices, definitely more interesting than your average list, you can find a little bit of everything, classics, underground, mainstream, international, etc. Even the ones I don't know - or know but haven't watched yet - seem quite intriguing, thanks for sharing.

They followed it up with these two articles—

(Needle Drops— great idea for a list)

(And this one is a whole slab of smaller lists from the industry individuals)

I...erm... might have to finally watch Kids Anxious

This list doesn't have Road to Revenge aka GetEven, so it's invalid.

Yeah I donno I see Indiewire and it's clones too much like a bastard baby of NPR and Brooklyn Vegan, though I pretty much have checked out of professional reviews from here on in and prefer to talk to individuals instead. The list is fine, though.

Are we doing an 80s list sometime this fall?

I’m open to starting it whenever Smile

I think there’s been some interest, and I suppose the last decade list was now actually quite a while ago. I wanted to do it over the summer, but it absolutely flew by. Anxious

I’d be open to a Sept-Nov run, if that works for everyone. Overlaps the TV poll, but I don’t see that being an issue.

Yeah, if anything the TV poll can be a long-running poll just because it's so vast, but the 80s would be fun to do once summer vacations are all over.

I'll open the 80s poll in (very early) September Smile I'm actually looking forward to it quite a bit.

Have that run until November-ish, and then maybe extend the TV list until early December.
