One of the first truly great albums I was introduced to. The songs still hold up really well. "Live Forever" and "Supersonic" are classics and "Married with Children" is one of my favourite Oasis songs. A great debut for them.

Ew. Oh how opinions change.

I still enjoy this one quite a bit. This is Oasis back when they were just writing sing-along melodies with a healthy dose of sneer. They were stupid kids singing about stupid things and thinking they knew everything they needed to know about the world. My early teen years in a nutshell.

It pales in comparison to (What's the Story) Morning Glory, though.

As a teenager growing up in northern England, I admit that Oasis were largely responsible for getting me into buying music, and I still own and like this - despite their terrible output post-1996 and the penny dropping that Oasis weren't as great as they (and my schoolmates) thought they were.

Wow, what a coincidence, I was just re-listening to this today.

I think this is a great record with some outstanding songs like Live Forever, Rock 'n' Roll Star, Slide Away and Married With Children. though I do think I prefer their sophomore album over this one.

I don't think I'd mind Oasis half as much as I do if I hadn't been taught that they saved rock, or that they were the last bastion of real music. Noel definitely has an ear for a good tune (see: 'Live Forever'), but they just aren't my bag. That whole Britpop scene was like the fucking enemy of progress - at least Jarvis Cocker didn't take himself too seriously.
