The best thing to come out of the Grammys last night was this quote from Dave Grohl in his acceptance for Foo Fighters winning Best Rock Album, in the midst of mindless schmaltzy Vegas-like production numbers from Chris Brown, Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj:
“For me this award means alot because it shows that the human element of making rock is the most important. Singing into a microphone and learning to play an instrument and learning your craft is the most important thing for people to do. It’s not about being perfect. It’s not about sounding correct. It’s not about what goes on in a computer. It’s about what goes on in here (points to heart) and what goes on in here (points to head.)”
I just learned today that Dave Grohl was on percussions for a sizeable chunk of Nine Inch Nails' With Teeth. I always wondered why I liked that album more than most people did. Maybe that's a reason why.
