I can't decide whether this or Blinking Lights and other Revelations is the best Eels album.
Eels makes some of the most powerful, touching, yet down to earth pop/rock music there is, and Electro Shock Blues is a perfect example of this. Part of what makes the album so affecting for me is the sort everyday plainness with which he approaches such heavy subject matter.

This. My ex-gf said "they make such happy music", but I don't think she really paid attention to the lyrics.
My favourite Eels album still is Daisies of the Galaxy though, but this is a close second. Beautiful Freak is an awesome album too. _________________ 9.3 Best New Post

Eels best by a longshot.
Brilliant lyrics, touching subject matters both matched brilliantly with some simple yet brilliant melodies and tunes. Going to Your Funeral Part 2 always hits an emotional chord with me.

If I go all BEA fashion with 1 album per artist in my chart one day, there should be a space for this album
